A Last Minute Father’s Day Gift….
To commemorate my sisters wedding last month (and add to the ever growing assortment of pictures my dad keeps on his desk at work), I helped Jordan and Alan by making a custom frame.
Jordan and Alan each drew the phrases and shapes. I then imported them, tested the shape sizes to make sure they worked scaled down, and made the first cut. Masking tape was used to prevent charring, and provide a mask for spray painting the letters black. After a quick clear coat, the masking tape was removed, and the result is what you see here. A visually striking, ultra-personal Father’s Day gift.
From idea generation to dropping the package off at the post office was around 2 and a half days. Plenty of development, trial, and error, crammed into a short window. The masking trick was new to me, and while I generally knew it was best practice to spray with clear coat before the colored layer to prevent seeping and bleeding edges, I had never actually done it before. Overall, super fun little project, and another possible use added to the laser cutters repertoire.
Happy Father’s Day to my incredible dad, and an extra congrats to you both, Jordan and Alan! ❤️
