A Day Above Baton Rouge and LSU

I live and work in New Orleans, Louisiana at the moment, so weekend trips to Baton Rouge to visit friends are not out of the question. No agenda, no solid plans, just show up and do whatever for a few days while hanging with friends.

For spontaneous trips just like this, I have recently taken to keeping a quadcopter of one type or another in my car. Over the course of two days, I had two different opportunities to pull out the quad (a DJI Mavic Air 2 in this case) and go for a quick flight. The first was over the Mississippi river alongside downtown, just south of the Capitol, to capture the Baton Rouge sign built into the river bank, the USS KIDD turned floating museum, and some sweeping downtown shots. The second opportunity came up at LSU (Louisiana State University) which was even better than expected considering it was the weekend after graduation so the campus was pretty empty. Cityscapes, Bell Tower orbits, and some sweet chase scenes of eager soccer players made for an exciting outing!
